Anyone put a turbo or supercharger on. TLX 4 cyl? I'd be interested to hear about your experience.

This.

I can't see why someone would want to do that to these cars.

They aren't a performance car, so every performance mod will cascade into other mods. If you go faster, you need to stop faster, better suspension, etc. Pretty soon what was a nice driver is no longer what you started with. Plus big dollars wont translate into big gains, and the money spent will never be recovered. IMO

I know everyone is different, but for me, this is a 4 door sedan, to begin with I wouldn't have bought it with a 4 cylinder, let alone consider adding forced induction to either motor. IMO if you want to go fast, get a car that was designed for it, not a luxury "sport" sedan that is middle of the pack at best. You can get a 2008-2009 M3 for under 30K, it's a better go fast package to start with, and will only get much better with minor mods.

Or if you have a lower budget buy an old Miata and convert it to a track autocross car. For under $10K you can build a car that is a TON of fun to drive.

Either way your DD remains a great car, with a nice ride, and you can get the performance bug out of your system in a car that will truly perform.

Just my opinion, I'm an old guy, so I see things differently sometimes, partly because I have traveled these paths, and experienced the end results.

I thought about supercharging mine, the motor can take some boost all day long in stock form, the only thing i don't know about is if the transmission can take it. it shifts (in sport+ mode) pretty aggressively so add on at least another 100ft.lbs tq and one shift can go boom.

same thing with a turbo setup, i was wondering if there was a way that you can use brake hold as a line lock to work with an anti-lag but launching under any type of boost and who knows. i can't imagine the 9spd would be cheap to replace/repair. would it be fast? sure, would it be reliable? probably not, nobody has pushed the limits on the 8 or 9 speed yet. i'm keeping my eye out for a written off I4 tlx so i can perhaps grab the trans or long block off of it, and keep it as a backup if things do go south.

anything can be fast with pistons and a credit card. lol
