With the app (iOS) I use, it allows entering in the car computer stats. See the attached picture of my fill-ups since owning my TLX. The RED marker is the calculated mpg (trip miles and gallons purchased) vs. the gray marker which is entered from the car computer.
You can see the car computer is always lower. Since we do not know what goes into that calculation, I use it as a gauge to either smile at the high mpg or smile at the "spirited" driving I'm enjoying!!
Which app is that?

There are Two versions in the App Store
Road Trip Lite
and
Road Trip

I believe the Lite version only allows one vehicle. The Full version allows multiple vehicles. I got the full version for $0.99 (years ago), but now I see it for $6.99!

One of the best apps for this purpose.

Thanks! Maybe I'll check out the lite version.

It's actually $9.99 in the Canadian App Store. ??

On my weekend trip to Columbus OH. Although only a hundred miles on the tank of gas so far, I ended the (350+ miles) trip at 37.9 MPG. The commute this morning is already bringing it down!!
Were you driving from Canada to OH(downhill from north to south) :)?
I wonder how those with V6 manage to get that kind of mileage, I never noticed over 33 mpg avg. on my i4. I guess VCM may be the reason.

I just took my first very long trip with my 2015 SH-AWD that has approximately 6000 miles. I drove to a wedding approximately 500 miles away, with the drive being 98% highway driving with 70 mph speed limits the entire way, driving around 75-80mph.

Over that drive, based on the trip computer in the vehicle, I was getting approximately 33 mpg the entire way. The climate control was set to 72 and exterior temperatures were in the 80s and 90s. IDS was set to Econ.

Not bad for a 290hp V6 with AWD.

Mpg

I have a 2015 V6 Advance model. I make 3 round trips from MD to FL each year. I have been getting 30-35 mpg on the 1050 mile trip using cruise control at 75-85 MPH on I#95 & I#75. The AC is set to 75. I have the car in Normal & Sport modes. The car has 13,000 on it now.
For short trips 30-50 miles, I got 37 mpg doing 60-65 mph on cruise. Cruise control helps a lot.

I have the 2015 TLX Advanced with automatic tranny. My last trip I averaged 32.8 MPG running at 70 MPH in IDS Normal. In town I get approx. 28 MPG. This is very satisfactory for me, since I do NOT baby the car. I put the pedal to the meatal any chance that I get. :)

Just got 6.4L/100km on my trip to Buffalo yesterday driving in Econ at 110 kph with ACC.

I had 6.7L /100 KMS this weekend trip to BC normal mode at 120 kmps highway BC mountain roads sports mode- impressed with v6 economy fulltank over 700 KMS still showing 105 kms to empty.

Which is why I'm confused. As per the VCM video, the cylinder deactivation occurs between 48kmh - 112kmh which is why I've been driving at 11kmh ever since I watched the video then how is the car giving great fuel economy at 120kmh? My first road trip I got 7.5L/100km in normal mode doing 120kmh.

Correction: Watched it again. It says VCM is most active in those speeds which means it can be active in higher speeds too.

Just got back from a 700+ mile round trip from Phoenix to San Diego. I pretty much kept to the speed limits on my way there but coming back spent significant time between 80-85 mph. Drove a mix of Econ and Normal modes with my I-4, 8 spd DCT. My trip computer calculated 35.5 mpg. I did my own calculation and actual gas mileage was 34.3 mpg. So true to form, the computer was a little overly optimistic.

Grabbed this after a recent trip... nearly all highway, cruise was set to 70mph (purposefully slower this trip to see what I could get).
After this picture, I was driving all local roads so the value went way down. Best MPG I've ever seen for over 300 miles. Normal mode.

333 miles - 38.2 mpg.

from my trip to VA from NY... this was the return trip.
531 miles - 37.7 mpg

It was 90-99F for most of this drive, and AC was on.
I'm pretty happy about the mpg. ;)
