Type S heated steering wheel

Has anyone ordered the heated steering wheel for a 2023 type S?

I think it's ridiculous that this is not the factory default when you get heated and ventilated front seats. WTF am I going to do with an extra steering wheel? One of the irritating aspects of this car. Thing is, once you've had it it's difficult to go backwards.

As much as I like my TLX, it's the little choices that they made for the sake of "efficiency" that harms their brand. I almost didn't buy my TLX because it didn't have the heated steering wheel. For those that have never had one, I get that you don't understand....but if you live where it gets below freezing on a routine basis...the heated steering wheel is great and it should be included on a car that MSRP's close to $50k (or over $50k for a Type S).

Totally depends on where you live. I'm in NH, where for 4-5 months a year, you use it daily or nearly so. I agree with you that it's the little things. Viewing the gauges during the day is horrible- the lack of contrast makes it difficult to see my speed, for example.

I'd venture that the heated steering wheel is more of a "personal preference". I grew up in Minnesota and also lived in the Dakotas, Chicago, Philadelphia, and New York, as well as other locations and never used the option. In fact, I'm the opposite of Flatland as I viewed the thing as a potential "deal killer"... just another item that could go wrong. I don't know if the inclusion (or lack of) impacted the eventual trade-in or resale values. In my case I'd would much prefer, say, upgraded speakers to complement the ELS system instead of the heated wheel. Just goes to show you that pleasing every potential Buyer is a difficult (impossible?) task.

Anyone who's never had a heated steering wheel will say it's not worth having. Anyone who has had a heated steering wheel will never want another vehicle without one.

I agree that it's ridiculous the A-Spec and Type S don't have one standard (or at least available).

I'll give up a heated steering wheel and heated seats before I'd give up ventilated seats.

Yes, it's dependent on local climate. But heated seats, even in the coldest weather I've been in, feel good only as long as it takes to warm the seats to my body temperature, then I have to turn them to their lowest setting or Off. Ventilated seats keep me from sweating during the entire drive, even in hot weather.

But I still don't really see a point of a heated steering wheel.

I agree that climate certainly comes into play. Get on your car on a day that it's -10°F, and you may change your mind. ;)

Agree that the local climate is the main decisive factor here. I am in the NYC area and for me the heated steering wheel is more important than even heated seats with ventilated seats being just a noisy annoyance.
On all BMWs I had in the past a heated steering wheel was $150-$200 option. On my 2023 MDX A Spec and my wife's 2020 TLX tech V6, I had to pay $620 and $575 accordingly to have a heated steering wheel added.

At least there's now a dealer-added option to add it to vehicles sold with packages that omit it. I MacGyvered the 2018+ A-Spec heated-wheel accessory kit to add it in my 2016 Tech (when it was available only on Canadian Advanced models). It was probably $700 by the time I was done, but worth every penny each time I turn it on.

The heated steering wheel is an optional what, $700 accessory? But you get all the adaptive driving features, premium audio, adaptive dampers, etc. included in the base price of the car.

Compare that to a lot of German brands where you need separate packages for those features.

On this tangent...

Bugs the hell out of me that any German car past $30k still requires paying extra for adaptive driving features now that Honda has them across their entire lineup (temporary covid shortage of blind spot monitoring chips aside).

I spend an hour on the interstate highway for my commute. Why the hell wouldn't I want adaptive cruise on a 3-series or C-class?

It was 33* this morning for me.

It’s heated steering wheel season again, and I’m glad I had the dealer install it when I got my car.

The heated wheel and seats just make for a more enjoyable drive to/from work. 100% worth the money.

Hoping someone can help me. I have a 22 Tiger Eye Type S with Orchid interior. I want to install the Heated Steering Wheel but cannot find one with the correct contrast stitching. The only ones I can find have the red stitching, but to match my interior I need one with the orchid color. If Acura does not make one for TLX, my next alternative is to look for an MDX Heated Wheel, since the MDX Type S Advance comes with orchid interior and heated wheel. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

For anyone that actually has the heated steering wheel. Is the regular steering wheel and the heated steering wheel literally the exact same thing, size, shape, thickness, etc, except for just the one button to turn on and off the heat? I know it's listed as a "sport" steering wheel with heat and some companies make their "sport" steering wheels a lot thicker than the standard steering wheel.
