Oil Change Question

Hey guys,

It's been almost a year since I visited the forums.. long story short bought my car Sep 2014 but since I was in the military I left the car parked in the garage since I was overseas. Return around December 2015 and my car had maybe 300 miles? I have driven it for a month around July 15 since I came home but other then that most of the time it's park and occasionally turned on to keep the engine running by my parent's. Since returning from December, i've driven it but not a lot and currently it sits at ~1500 miles... LOL. Oil monitor sits at 50% from when I first driven at 90%. Should I wait until the maintenance notification to take it in and get it changed? Or just go ahead and change now regardless since i'm almost closing in on 2 years. I know i'm suppose to used 0W-20 so i'll probably go with Mobile Synthetic but what oil filter do you recommend? All in all, it spent most of its time parked in a garage

I apologize if this is in the wrong section. Can be moved if needed. Any help/tips is appreciated!

Hey guys!

Thanks for all the response. i would multi-quote but it'd be too long. So far, most commonly seen is that yes I should take it in and go with the standard Acura oil filter. Should I go with their oil as well? I don't want them trying to rip me off and stuff like that. Also since i'll be going there any notice I should ask them to check/look for while my car is there? I have an email for a $50 change oil and filter special.

Again, thank you all for the help! I don't know much about cars so i'm still learning.

Not sure how double posting works here but feel free to merge.

Took it in this morning and it cost $60.. Only oil change and filter. They didn't reset the engine oil monitor so I did it myself.. Was I supposed to leave it alone? I think the common sense was to reset it LOL. The next oil change is at 15% from the little sticker they left. I'm assuming it's from 100% and not the 50% I brought it in with.

Did you take it to the Acura dealer? They may not have reset it because it wasn't the full A1 service. Just a guess. The A1 service is a basic one so I shouldn't hurt resetting the service monitor.
Yes sir! I just took it to the that was near my house which is less then 3 min drive. The original dealership where I bought it is an hour away so...

That's what I did. Ended up doing it myself so right now i'm going to assume the next time to take it in is at 15% base off the sticky they left?

They offered the free wash when I brought it in but I just turned it down since I don't want them to scratch it up but I should have had them vacuum the inside lol. Not sure how the dealership is with the wash.. haven't googled it or know of anyone who had it done there. Mine didn't require an appointment. I just took in it and they finish real quick... too quick to my liking since I heard it's best to let all the oil drip out slowly but eh can't complain.
