When I had a 2016 TLX Tech for a loaner last week I noticed that some of the information displayed on the GPS was different. I took a look at the version of the map and sure enough it's newer than what is in my car. I checked the nav update site and nothing is listed for the TLX. Nothing new at least. I'm guessing a new version will be made available to the public soon.

The cost and how often we should update the maps is always a good discussion.

Here are some pictures to show my current version as well as the newer one.

TY for the screen shots - where do you go to get this info?

I would hope NAVI updates are covered under warranty...but who knows. My 2008 TL Type S CD disc set was $200 - never did it.

And I wont hop on my old rant about Google Maps or Apple maps, where you get daily updates for free..oh yeah, and traffic...oh yeah and ratings...

I don't have the sequence in front of me, but if you go to the Nav settings there is a menu item there called system information (I think).

Nav updates have not been covered under warranty for my past Hondas so I'm guessing this one won't be either. They do seem to run around $200 in Canada based on the Nav Update website. I think they're almost half that in the US. For me, they're not worth updating at that price.

I emailed the contact on that website and asked about navi updates since the TLX and most newer Acuras were not listed. The nav software is provided by a company called HERE and I was told that they have update disks available about once a year, but didnt give me a specific date.

I think we all can potentially have different versions anyway as shown by the above screenshots. My early build TLX has VER2 lol. The new software versions are probably preinstalled in the new cars.

I dont remeber what the exact numbers are, but I remember last spring when we were comparing them and mine was older then yours.

I cant change to order of the menu items and things like that., etc. Remeber that Client Satisfaction update from last year? Mine is older then that lol.

Yeah, that's the software version. Yours is older than mine. The map database version is the number right above that.

Any idea how to report / suggest updates ?

This weekend I tried to program an address in Hudson, MA. I tried about 8 times using the voice recognition without success on the city. After finally giving up and entering manually, I realized why "Hudson" couldn't be recognized. The city string is something like "HudsonTownOf" or some similar gibberish. How this info got into the database is beyond me.

I suggest calling the company who sells the updates. They may be able to assist with things like that or at least point you in the right direction. I think the company who sells the updates is only the distributor for maps made by someone else. They may be able to tell you who makes the maps for them though.

Here is a link to the site.

I have heard it may be easier to start with a zip code/postal code - this limits the available choices to only a few, and may make voice selection easier.

@BlackBeauty also posted that Acuralink live concierge couldn't find a movie theatre...that was a human.
