I have a 2018 V6 AWD TLX. It is supposed to have the VCM cylinder deactivation, but I can't ever feel in kick on or off, and have never seen a notification of it. Googling seemed to indicate that some Acuras have a dash light that comes on when VCM is active, but I've never seen it.

Is there any way to tell when VCM is active on our cars?

The TLX does not have any indication.... but you mention your TLX has the VCM deactivated? How so?

I can say for sure than when activated you can feel it, its like a slight rumbling feel in the engine.

No, the feature is not deactivated (as far as I can tell), I was just calling it "VCM cylinder deactivation" somewhat redundantly.

Is there any surefire way to get it to kick in so I can learn what it feels like? Highway cruising at 60 ought to do it, right?

I think I am pretty picky about how the car feels, and have still never noticed it, so I am wondering if mine is working right. My mileage seems low too, which is also making me suspicious. My commute is like 60% highway, 40% backroads at 25 or 45 mph, and I average around 21-24 mpg per tank.

The car was in the shop a few times when it was new for the AWD highway vibration problem (got the Michelins and everything), and I am wondering if they turned VCM off to "do me a favor" and cut possible vibration.
