Passenger side rattling/vibration sound

Hi,

Just in the last week I've been noticing a rattling vibration sound coming from the passenger side. It only happens when I go over a small pothole or bump on the road. It is very annoying and I've tried to pinpoint the source without any success.

One thing that I did notice during my search is that the passenger seat belt buckle sticks out more than the driver side one. Can someone confirm if this is found on your car? I noticed that the buckle vibrates a lot while driving, although it does not seem to be the source of the sound.

The car only has 2500 miles. Any ideas?

Thanks

I assume you have completely emptied the car... often the sounds do not originate from where you think they do.... have you ensured that there is no loose item rattling in the glove box or console or door storage?

If you have done that, I would take it back to the dealer and have them fix it - either now (if it is truly driving you crazy) or at your first oil change.

I had an annoying "buzz" in my RDX at certain speeds. It took a few attempts, but the dealer finally found that there was a missing snap button that allowed a piece of plastic trim under the body to flutter at higher speeds.

My car has a very annoying rattle/vibration when I go over rough pavement. It is from the passenger seatbelt buckle vibrating and hitting the center console. Acura says they cannot reproduce it lol. It only happens when there is no passenger. If I do up the seatbelt with no passenger, I never hear the vibration. Next time I go to my dealership I will bug them about it.

I couldn't say if the buckle sticks out more, but I know it is the source of my vibration.

I decided to drop in to the Acura dealer today to check out a '16 TLX. During the drive the passenger seat belt buckle was vibrating and it was hitting the center console. That would drive me crazy. Once I got back in my car, I noticed the seat belt buckle vibrates just as much but it's far enough away from the console that it doesn't hit it. It will be interesting to see if it's something they changed/modified for the '16s and how many will need to be re-adjusted.

Passenger seat

After multiple drives, even taking video of various sections of the passenger side, I've found that the rattling is coming from the passenger seat itself. I can reproduce it by making the seatbelt buckle vibrate with my hand but even if I hold it steady so that it does not vibrate while driving, the rattling sound still happens.

If a passenger seats on their side, the rattling doesn't happen. I am suprised at how much this car vibrates. Just like Andre mentions, i noticed the seatbelt buckle vibrating a lot during normal driving. Not surprisingly, I've first started hearing the rattling while driving close to 80 MPH, which is where everyone mentions the annoying car vibration. I have been trying to ignore it but I guess it was enough to loosen something on the passenger seat. Now it vibrates plus makes a rattling sound inside the cabin at 80 MPH. VERY ANNOYING!

I had / have a noise and I found it was from the passenger side buckle. There isn't a noise when there is a passenger buckled in... the reason is that when the passenger leaves the buckle was angled to the back of the seat. If I push it to the front of the seat the noise stops. This would probably be the same in the drivers seat but since its always buckled in it doesn't. (Also the fact that a person in the seat might be resting on buckle preventing it from vibrating)

Hope this helps.

I also had a rattling on the drivers side over small bumps in the road along with as my wife said a wind noise. After hours of trying to find the noise myself I gave up and dropped it off at dealer. They found and repaired the passenger door panel was slightly separated from the bottom of the door. He also mentioned a possible seat belt buckle issue. All I know is the wind noise and the rattle is gone. I wonder if a car wash air drying could possibly force enough air into the door to separate the panel from the door bottom?
