Hey everyone,

I'm in need of a new car and test drove a TLX today. I really liked everything about it except for the touch pad and the gear selectors (vs. a traditional gear shift). I'm sure I could get used to a different gear interface, but less confident about the touchpad. For those of you who have had a TLX for awhile, how long did it take you to get used to it? And do you actually like it - i,e., would you consider it a pro not a con?

Thanks!

Emily
I got used to my touchpad within a few drives of the car (maybe 100 miles or so). I’ve had it since April with 5000 miles, and it’s second nature to me. I had a ‘15 TLX V6, so I am also very used to the gear selector.

I really like it compared to a touchscreen. You don't have to reach for the screen and your screen doesn't get covered in fingerprints. It really doesn't take long to get used to and is easy to use. I do wish it worked better with CarPlay but even then prefer it to a touchscreen. I'm not sure I prefer it to a Mazda/Audi click wheel but really like the fact that with both your hand barely has to move.

Oh wow my wife's 2021 CX-5 I HATE that wheel interface. It's aweful. Not intuitive at all IMO.
