Using charging pad (Wireless Charging) and USB/C charging cord at the same time

Today, when I removed the phone after a long trip I noticed that the phone was extremely warm. I realize that wireless charging does cause some heat, but this was excessive. So my question....does using both charging methods simultaneously result in reducing the life of the battery? Does everyone shut off the wireless charging before plugging into AA? I just bought a wireless Bluetooth dongle and plugged it in the center console instead of connecting my phone to that port with a cable. My phone automatically connects to it when the car starts. Wireless carplay or android auto is much easier and no issues with overheating.
