My 2018 3.5 SH seems sluggish from a standing stop when I punch on the throttle through about 20 mph or so. If feels excruciatingly slow; almost like it has to build up to accelerating. Whether in Sport or Sport+, it's the same result. My wife's V6 Sienna seems to have a quicker initial takeoff from standing stop that my TLX. The 3.5 is adequately powerful and fast, but it seems like almost 0.5 to maybe even 1 second is wasted on the engine building up to takeoff before deciding to fully open the throttle and go.

Anyone else observe this with the 3.5?

A sprint booster or K-tuner should take care of the issue. I couldn't deal with the throttle lag either, so I installed a sprint booster....most likely moving to the K-tuner in a couple of months

Do the throttle reset procedure. Without stepping on the brake, push the start button, all the dash lights should come on. Press the accelerator to the floor and hold it until the engine light goes out. This should reset the throttle. Try and let us know.

I did the throttle reset. I think that's the same process for resetting the transmission learned behavior as well? Anyway, it may be a bit more responsive, but it's hard to tell as one's interpretation of things can be easily influenced based on the anticipated result.
I've also be experimenting on how I apply the throttle at a standing stop. It appears that acceleration response is quicker with a quick press of the pedal to about 1/2 way and then a slightly slower press to the floor.

Look into getting a Sprint Booster II. No matter how hard or fast you step on the throttle, it will only open at a predetermined speed (slow). The ETC system (Electronic Throttle Control) - also known as Drive-by-Wire has the unfortunate downside of delayed throttle response and subdued accelerations, creating problems in certain circumstances such as up-hill hard starts, quick accelerations, overtaking, hard right turns, etc., etc. The Sprint Booster overcomes this throttle response delay for our cars by providing crisp on-tap acceleration at the driver's foot. I've had a Sprint Booster II for the last 3 years. The downside is: You must remember to dial down the acceleration during wet, icy, and snowy weather or it is easy to get out of control. I turn my Sprint Booster off during inclement weather. BUT - during other times, when I turn it up, it is a BLAST to have. Search for Sprint Booster here on this site for more info. I wrote a full install here on this board.
