My new 2021 Advance TLX was suffering from many of the issues other have seen here, like the brake that sounds like a rusty spring to the random creaks and pops from the dashboard.

All this is resolved now! How did I accomplish this with a dealership network that just really doesn't care?

I traded the car.

Good luck everyone, this forum has been very helpful. It also helped me understand my issues with the car are not unique to the one I got, they are "features" built into the design.

I'm sorry it had to be that way. I couldn't be happier with mine. What did you trade it for?
Went back to BMW. It is too bad because there is a lot to like about the TLX and I know this is all nit-picky cosmetic stuff. I am sure the car will give many years of reliable service but my expectations were high.

I feel most of the issues are at the plant where it was assembled (for example my rear seat latches were left underneath the seat and I had to remove the seat to fix it, just an inexcusable quality control error). The other problem is with the dealer who really does not give a first-class experience in service.

I hope Acura gets this straightened out before it starts to hurt their reputation as I have always liked the brand.

Did yours pull the one side or the other? Taking mine in for the final repair attempt at a dealership 2 hours away next week because the local dealership wont look at it for a 3rd time (threshold for mediation). This is my first experience with Acura, and so far it sucks all around.

Yes it pulled right big time. After 2 trips and 6 hours waiting around at the dealer they got someone competent to look at it and it was mostly fixed. Still drifted to one side more than I would like but sort of acceptable. If I had bought a Kia I would live with it but I had set my expectations higher.

42K. Considering I paid 44.5 I was OK with that after 6 months of ownership.
44.5K not bad at all. For SH-AWD? That system is where the car shines. Sorry you had those issues. I’ve been reading about them via FB too and feel bad for those many who seem to have them. I’m at 9500 miles now and love my ASpec SH-AWD. I have had no issues beyond the puddle lights. No infotainment, steering, creaks, pulling, etc. I feel lucky. My build date was 02/21.

Not AWS, just a TLX Advance. I think it's hit or miss with these cars. Maybe you got one put assembled by a better crew. The seatbelt latch thing is what really gets me -- even though it was minor -- because that is very clearly just sloppiness in the assembly and lack of quality checking. I just wonder what else they were sloppy on when putting that car together. It just seems very un-Honda, I've had 2 Hondas that I both kept for a long time and both were flawless.

Your sarcasm has made my day and thanks for sharing your solution. I might use your solution soon cause this car is really piece of sh*t. So much issues after issues and Acura service support is trash as well. Never again I will ever purchase an Acura again.

These are all of the issues I had so far:
-Door gap
-Bad paint
-Car make cranking noise when braking. Even worse during rainy day or after running through a car wash.
-Both mirror puddle lights are out
-Door unlock issues
-Tail light condensation
-Gas mileage is terrible. Barely got 26 mpg on highway road trip. That is the highest I ever got from this car
-Car making weird static noise when plug in the iPhone to use the apple car play
-Brake paddle (spring noise is so loud)
-The hesitant/lagging when press the gas pedal from a lower speed (don’t think this is turbo lag)

ouch, sounds like you got it a lot worse than I did. I also had poor mileage (under 23 overall) and bad throttle response which is just how the car is I think. But some of the other issues you mention are outrageous. Do they assemble these cars in the dark or something? The good news is that the reputation of Acura is still good enough that I got a trade value that made it relatively painless to move on from this thing. Hope it works out for you either way.

I have a 2021 Type S and it is one of the worst cars I have had. The Puddle Light issue is still not resolved. the Turbo lag is horrible. I had a body panel not fastened at the factory that had to be reglued. The NAV screen is so small that I can't read it. The console lid cracks when pressure is applies.
This car was 55K with accessories. Never again...I am going back to BMW.

So I followed your footsteps , today I traded in my 2021 TLX Advance FWD for a 2022 530i xdrive after only 4 months. The price increase is of course considerable considering its a larger sedan, but now poof an assortment of irritating issues are gone.

Brakes squeel every single morning " Its a known issue, no fix for it at this time "
Puddle light flickers, or goes out " Its a known issue, no fix for it at this time "
Sometimes I touch the door handle, and the car doesnt open, I have to remove the key " " Its a known issue, no fix for it at this time "
Most of the time, my auto high-beams dont work "" Its a known issue, no fix for it at this time "
Every other day my USB audio stops detecting , could not get fixed after 3 visits. Proven in person. Three strikes Acura is out
The orchestra of clicks and rattles are now gone. A problem that was magnified tenfold when my damn USB music failed to work.

Advantage TLX , the sound system seems to be better, has more bass. The TLX is sportier. THATS IT. In theory, this can be a great car, the quality just isnt there. Honda/Acura are dreadful when it comes to fixing intermittent problems. I gave them a 2nd shot after a nightmare with a 2019 Accord Touring, they failed miserably.

Paid $43725 for the TLX , got $41,000 on the trade. (Had a carguru offer of $44,366 which was about the same when sales tax is considered on trade-in) Paid $2500 under MSRP for the 530i with a corporate discount. Byebye Acura, get your shit together.

If anyone is interested, I have an idlestopper IDS (drive mode) Controller Fits 2021+ Acura MDX/TLX (all trim levels) Paid $95 , will take $75 shipped
TLX all weather mats paid $140 shipped , will take $110 shipped

Glad you all got a car you feel comfortable with now.
My 2015, first generation, is still providing me a delight each time I take her out. Many of these issues should have been caught at delivery, but the shiny new vehicle shadows these issues.
Always be sure to check it out completely before taking the keys...

Good looking out on the mats, @ITALIAN926 . I appreciate you shipping those so quickly. As for my issues, I did get mine resolved today. After almost 3 weeks at a dealership two hours away, my car was ready for pickup today. Our local dealer refused to see the car for a third time because they said they couldnt do anything beyond aligning it again, which did not resolve the pulling to the left. After taking it to a dealership further out, and giving written notice to Acura for a final repair attempt (this is a necessary step before taking legal action and/or having an independent third party mediate your issue with the manufacturer... it's all in that little consumer booklet included with your manual), I drove it 2 hours south to a dealership for the final attempt. The pulling to the left was resolved with a VSA sensor reset (supposed to be done with every alignment on models with the adaptive dampers), my passenger door speaker rattle was fixed by replacing the door panel, and my brake squeal was addressed by replacing brakes and rotors (this one I havent confirmed is totally fixed yet, but so far so good). I'm incredibly relieved and happy to have a proper car that feels, drives, and sounds good, but am incredibly frustrated with how the local dealer handled my issue, and with how my initial call to Acura was addressed (they recommended I take it back to selling dealership 5 hours away, and would not entertain the idea of me going to a dealer somewhere in between). Hope this helps someone... I'm happy.

I agree with everything you said, bc I’ve had the same issues. I want to love this car, but the issues make it hard.
I’m still having an issue with my brakes still squeal and I have a noise coming from the left front side where my steering rack had been replaced. Had to put it back in the shop to get that calibrated after the fix, bc it was pulling to the left really bad after the steering rack fix. It’s been one thing after the next.
After having the car for not even a month brand new, it was at the dealership. We’ve replaced the steering wheel, and trimmed the extra material under the steering wheel, at the same time. After that steering wheel got scratched, on another trip to the dealership, I’ve tried to smooth it out by rubbing the leather. Had the rack and pinion replaced for the creaking sound, brake spring noise and a brake squeal issue, pending Acura fix for this, and now I hear a periodic clunk when putting the car in gear when it’s on a slight incline.

Waiting on an MDX that I like and at the right price.

Glad you got it resolved. What a difference an attentive, competent dealer can make. It's too bad that seems to be the exception not the rule but at least now you have somewhere to go if you need to.
