Hi guys. Does anyone have instruction how to disassemble back up camera? It was getting fogged up when it rains and worked fine during sunny days. Now my warranty expired and permanently fogged up now can’t see anything. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Welcome Jimmy. Sorry to hear about that. What year is your Acura?

I noticed the last time it rained that the picture from one of the cameras was distorted. I just thought that it was water on the outside of the camera and not inside. I guess that I am going to have to check it out better while mine is still under warranty.

Thanks

Mine is 2015. Yeah. as soon as you notice distortion on your back up camera take it in for warranty. My camera would be fine during sunny days as moisture dry and rainy days comes back. Now seems like permanently wet inside the camera and I can’t see anything. I will try to disassemble and clean the lense before I replace the camera.

If you do take it off, please take pictures and make a quick how to guide if you have time.

I have a feeling we all may be suffering from this in the future as these cars age.

Sorry to hear about that.... I don't know if you can open it... but if you do, as mentioned in the prev post please post how to, I fear the entire assembly would need to be replaced, even if you can open it, there is some sort of compromise to your camera that will probably cause it to fog up again.

... but unlike a comment I do NOT feel like this will be an issue for many in the future... time will tell.

Hi guys. Here is an update on my backup camera. I took out the camera assembly (getting to it was very easy) but I couldn’t take the camera apart. It was impossible. So I looked up the part number online and it was very close to CRV except for the last four digits. Picture also looked identical. I found CRV camera on eBay for $28 and gave it a try. I also noticed there are a lot of complaints about foggy backup camera for CRV so I figured Honda uses same for majority of their vehicles. It took two weeks for the camera to arrive and moment of truth.... it was perfect fit and it worked!!! Only thing doesn’t work was different views settings but I don’t think I ever used different views so doesn’t bother me. Spent less than $30 vs $315 dealer quoted me for the part so I am very pleased. Here are some pictures including before and after.

Jimmy I have a 2106 with the same issue, out of warranty. How do you get to the camera? Do you need to remove the trunk liner?
Thanks

Hi Jimmy, I have the same problem and I was wondering what year was the CRV camera you looked up was it also a 2015 and does that even matter ? I have a 2015 TLX 2.4 fwd is that the model you have or the 3.5 v6? . Also is it possible to post the part number as it will be easier for me to order. Thank you very much.

I had mine replaced by a shop in Scarborough dee months ago, much better quality. But you will need to adjust the view, came with a button to adjust that.
Btw just traded it for 19 Mdx. Otherwise I’d have posted pics

I really hope it's that easy . I received the conformation email saying my order is on it's way so we'll see soon enough.
Sorry for the late response. Yes it is straight plug and play change and you will have to remove trunk liners to get to the camera. Make sure to wear gloves as metals under the liners are very sharp. Hope everything goes well.

I have a 2019 TLX loaner and the backup camera is much nicer than my 2015... the colors are much better (My grass doesn't look dead when viewing in the 2019) and in low light conditions its better too... wondering if that is a camera upgrade or more to the system as a whole.
