Jalopnik names the TLX as a "2015 Model Year Reveal to Look Forward to"

The TLX is getting some pre-reveal attention from Jalopnik.

The TLX, the replacement for Acura's TL and TSX, is significant because Acura needs to step up its game in the sedan market if it wants to compete with BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi, not to mention Lexus and Cadillac. "This means creating a car that'll actually be on yuppies' radar other than the MDX. Not cars like the RLX, which I've never seen on the road and a car which even auto journalists don't bother writing about."

We should expect to see no rear-drive version. Instead, only AWD or hybrid versions will be offered to show Acura can do sporty and fuel-efficient. "The handling might even be on par with an A4/S4, but few will care, mainly because of that grille. So these TL/TSX replacements will end up on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and will be blown up at least once every episode so Acura can deplete their inventory."

Basically Jalopnik misses the point again. They are the aforementioned yuppies and they still don't get that Acura is not playing the same game as Audi, BMW or Mercedes.

I'm beginning to think that acura does not have a product problem but a perception problem. Wound up yuppie journos like our friend from jalopnik who believe every car should be 545 horsepower RWD, manual saloon car offered for the low low price of $19,995 have a supreme amount of pull over the car buying public. If they are consistently expecting Acura to offer something that will eat BMWs lunch, which they can't, of course they will continue to write negative pieces about acuras continued disappointment and below quality products. What do you think thats going to do to your half informed iphone slinging average car buyer?

YOU MEAN ACURA WONT GIVE ME A GUD IMAGE

Regardless of if the vehicle is good in its own right we get subjective fluff pieces and half cocked comments about what a car could of been just so we can understand that auto journalists are creative too!

How many people care enough to notice...

Either way I think Acura does really need to step it up with the TLX if they want to improve their overall sales. The TL should be their second best selling model beside the MDX
I think that maybe luxury cars are compared to the German brands too often. It would be nice to judge each vehicle on its own merits.

Having said that, I think that even for Acura, Acura sedans aren't really as good as they could be.

So I half agree with you @tino
Its called the german standard

We wont be able to avoid it. Its here and its well alive.

yea but my point being that the German Standard does not come from the average shopper. The German standard was developed by auto journalists and is used as a bench mark by uninformed consumers.

How many BMW owners even know their vehicle is RWD?

I would hope that people know about their own vehicle.

I just wonder if we will ever be able to move past the German standard. Even if another brand like Cadillac or Lexus lives up to or exceeds those standards, the fact that the German standard exists makes it hard to imagine any other brand as surpassing the Germans.
the german standard is an impenetrable wall. as long as their cars are expensive. they will have some sort of exclusivity.
Acura hasn't given much in the way of teasing for the TLX, but i am anticipating big things. I'm hoping for something that can be compared to a 4-Series. Do you think that's possible?

I think the anticipation is there. The question is whether or not the TLX will live up to expectations.
It's good hearing this from Jalopnik, they know cars and have some good speculation. I'll take their word for it that the TLX is something to look forward to, just curious HOW good it will be. The RLX was a disappointment, I hope it's either a "mini RLX" priced really well or something that is truly impressive.
TLX is Acuras bread and butter for performance sedan

The MDX is a great seller but its not going to do anything to appeal to true enthusiasts.

So the TLX is where it's at.

Ever since the MDX went 3rd row, it lost all appeal to true enthusiasts. Now we have the RDX that sort of picks up where it left off before being more family-friendly.

Can't wait for the TLX.
I've never taken interesting in the SUVs anyways

6MT for me

So I've only ever been interested in the manual trans Acuras

I hope the TLX keeps the 6mt
