Not sure how many of you are into Formula One, Honda is returning to the grid next year with a V6 Turbo Hybrid powerplant in the back of a McLaren chassis (ring any bells ;)). Yesterday (?) they released the first image of their 2015 motivator...

"Working toward Honda's F1 participation starting in the 2015 season, development of the power unit is entering its prime phase at our R&D facility in Sakura (Tochigi, Japan), where we transferred our automobile motor sports development earlier this year," Arai said. "In addition to conducting simulations, we have moved onto the next stage where we conduct full-fledged bench tests of the engine while connecting the turbocharger and energy recovery systems.

"In the meantime, our racing operation base in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, has become fully operational. At this time, we are unveiling an image of our power unit that is under development. The whole team is concentrating on this development, getting ready for the forthcoming start of F1 participation in 6 months. Please stay tuned for further updates."

Looks like an awesome engine. I want to see the specs and numbers behind it. How much horsepower are we talking about?

Doesn't McLaren make their own engines?
they've been partnered with Mercedes for years, but the relationship has been rocky at best since the SLS AMG and 12C came out. McLaren was pissed Mercedes built a sports car without them (remember the SLR), and then Merc was pissed when McLaren built the 12C as a rival.

Its rumored Honda and Mac may start collaborating more closely on road going cars as well. Turbo v6 hybrid tech from Honda, you just know that tech is going to trickle down eventually...(to a degree)
