The door lock on my TLX was damaged. Looks like someone jammed a screwdriver or something else in it.

I purchased the lock cylinder kit which came with the door cylinder and glovebox cylinder. Also a third cylinder which I'm guessing is for the trunk, but not needed in my case. Also, came with 2 new keys.

I thought it would be a straight forward replacement of the two cylinders and that would do it. However, my local dealer service advisor said they don't just remove and replace. What he said didn't make sense and it included re-keying the new lock to the existing key. Labor $179+ and then another $100 plus for the locksmith.

Anyone else out there have experience replacing the door lock? Any advise?

Thanks in advance

I could be that the third cylinder is for the emergency truck release located behind the rear seat headrest. (page 517 in the manual)

Thanks Dan. I ended up having to rekey the replacement door cylinder to the original key. The key that came from Acura in the box did not work with the door cylinder. I am hoping to get at least a partial refund.
