Hello all! William aka OldTLXGuy here. Just stepped up to a 2021 TLX A-Spec, 15k miles, from a 2018 Honda Accord Touring 2.0T.

I'm in Monument, CO. The TLX has taken over the daily commute from here to Buckley SFB in Aurora and back through the week.

I'm loving this car! Here's a few pictures:

Before I bought my TLX A-Spec, I looked at an Accord Touring 2.0T. It was a really nice car.

What made you switch? Do you miss the more spacious rear seats and trunk from the Accord? Is your TLX AWD or FWD?

They ARE really nice! I loved the Accord---my first Honda, and it was capable of some pretty amazing things. But after just 2 1/2 years of commuting, it was pretty beat up. One set of tires, 3 windshields, trips to the dealer multiple times for computer issues. Had to replace the skid plate under the front 1/3 of the car because the selling dealership (a Dodge place) put the metal access panel back wrong after an oil change and the leading edge fell out at 65 mph one time and got trashed. It spent 3 weeks in the body shop 2 years ago after I found a piece of road debris at 70 mph in the dark one morning...trashed the front lower fascia and holed the intercooler. But that little sucker was tough---it ran long enough to limp to the dealer and then to the bodyshop.

It took on the worst that Colorado's weather could throw at it: Rain. Extreme cold. Snow. SNOW. Lots of @#$%@$%&* SNOW. That car plowed through a bomb cyclone where 4WDs were getting stuck.

I loved it. But the mileage and the strain were beginning to show, and I really wanted AWD again (the car I had before the Accord was a '13 Taurus SHO). So I jumped at it. Yes, it's got the SH-AWD. The back seat does seem smaller, but I'm alone most of the time, so it's not a big deal. The trunk doesn't seem that much smaller. It won't get as much use as the Accord did; I'm slated to head off on deployment to Europe as an Army civilian at the end of August, so it's gonna sit for a while. My teenage daughter says she's gonna drive it while I'm away. My response?

"I love you sweetie....NO." 🤣🤣

BTW, my commute is 110 miles per day, round trip.

Aww.....she'll be fine! Let her drive it. ;)

I let my 20 year old daughter drive mine when she was in town but we had a long discussion about it beforehand.
Lol, my daughter will be getting her learners later this year and she said I can’t wait to drive moms car. That isn’t happening lol. She can drive my 15 Corolla or my 05 tundra. She won’t be driving the type s. Congratulations on the a spec, I like the blue. When we bought our type s they had a blue one too but I didn’t like the red seats with the blue.

Thanks for the message, OTG. I figured should formalize my "Welcome" here. Nice A-Spec! 110 miles round trip to Buckley? I don't think that's a trip I'd want to make every day, but you've got a nice ride to do it in.
