Fun in the snow

Had some fun with my new dashcam.

Yesterday, driving to the cottage, there was 6" of fresh snow on the access road, with no tire tracks.

SH-AWD, with Michelin X-Ice 3 winter tires. I was playing in Sport+ mode, but keeping to the limit.

Today, I had to climb the driveway hill with about 9" of snow on it. You will see that the car started to go sideways once or twice, but SH-AWD sorted that out. The road up top was freshly plowed and sanded, so the drive out was not as fun as yesterday

(note to self.... fix the date on the Dash Cam... wrong year AND wrong day.)

Nice. Dashcams do not do justice in showing the slope that you were going up. And if you had to do it again add some verbal commentary about the gear being used and when you felt the sideways motion.

This is one of the conditions that SH-AWD was designed to handle. If you do not encounter this type of driving (I don't) then SH-AWD will not be put to good use.
The hill climb was done in Econ mode (my default). It started to slip on some of the steeper sections, where there is a bit of a cross-slope.

As for what gear I'm in while shifing up and down enthusiastically in in Sport+ mode, I rarely know. I don't count gears up and down, and I rarely look at the little display on the dash. All I care about is whether I want more RPMs or less RPMs. (does that make me a bad driver? ;-) )
The car would likely have performed just as well going up the hill in Regular mode. Using the paddles should be no different to driving a stick shift, if you have that experience, but with 9 gears it will be more difficult to tell what gear you are in without looking.

Bad drive, not necessarily as long you are not cutting in ahead of me, driving on my bumper, flying around a corner and meeting me head on, or causing a traffic incident. But something tells me you are a mature responsible driver!

Very nice videos. I didn't notice any slippage. I can hear the engine growl once in a while. :)
