Frustrated!!!

I ordered a TLX SH-AWD elite with launch package on August 30th. Was advised delivery would be in October. Stopped into the dealership on October 15th. My salesman was not available so spoke with another -gave him my info (my name and the model that I had ordered). He went away, and was gone for some time. When he returned he advised that my car was in transit on a train and should arrive middle of the following week (October 22nd or so).

On October 22nd, my salesman phoned to provide an update on the car. He said it was currently being built and should be available towards the end of the next week - October 31st or the following week. I told him what the other salesman had told me and he said the guy was mistaken, that they had received a tech model but not an elite. OK Whatever, I've waited this long, what's another week or so. However, he went on to say the launch package wasn't available and did I still want the aero kit. I responded by asking about the extra set of rims. He said the rims were not available. I then asked about the 2 year free service with the PIN number if the care didn't arrive until after the end of October. He said that wasn't a problem.

I originally wanted the vehicle to be in the graphite metallic. The salesman had explained that the launch kit was only available in white or black. The launch kit was such a good deal, I was not prepared to give it up for over the color so decided on the white. My agreement to purchase clearly indicates the launch package and its price.

Planning on going to the dealership tomorrow - will be interesting to see how they handle this.

I've bought 20+ new cars from dealers in my life. Most Honda/Acura. Dont believe a #@[email protected]# word they say in any way. I would say that that Honda/Acura dealers can be some of the worst (Lexus being the best I have dealt with). I have bought over 15 Honda/Acuras alone. They will talk out of their @$$ to sell you a car. Honda controls them in no way and are not worth trusting in *any* way.

For example, when the S2000 came out, dealers sold them for $5K over MSRP for 2 years. When a new Lexus comes out such as the upcoming RC350 / F, Lexus does not allow them to sell over MSRP so you can walk in a not get pillaged by the dealer. Lexus slaespeople are literally true professionals, Honda/Acura you can get young kids that act like the usual used car salesmen (from True Lies aka Bill Paxton).
I think it might be a dealer specific thing. I've dealt with not so great Honda dealers and some amazing ones. I'm dealing with my local Acura dealer and they've been really good so far.

Always remember that they're not doing you a favor by selling you a car. If you don't like the dealer, go to another one.......if possible of course. Sometimes it's worth a drive to get a dealer you feel comfortable with.

Which dealers did you go see? Are you in Montreal?
I feel your pain. I ordered my Graphite AWD Elite back in early July. I realize they only started making the AWD's in September so nothing to do but wait. Checked with my salesman around Thanksgiving and he found out that a vehicle fitting my specs had been allocated by Honda Canada to another person who only made their purchase very recently!
The sales manager complained since my order was on the Honda books since July and all of a sudden my vehicle shows up at the dealership last weekend. Picked it up and still trying to learn all the gadgets.
I think Honda Canada has to do a better job on their end. Even the roll out of the special 2 year maintenance offer was a fiasco. I understand some people never received their codes for the program.
Honda must have underestimated the demand for the Launch kit. I understand that the dealership I used only had four units left in late September. It's a great deal so I would insist that since you changed colors to get one of them that they set one aside for your when Honda finally supplies them.
Only good thing.....I hope the assembly plant has taken care of the early problems with these later production models. Noticed on the website for owners manuals that there is a different one for vin numbers ending with 8______

Hope you enjoy your car. Should get some sort of appreciation gift from your dealer for your troubles.

Didn't get my pin number in the mail but the dealer fixed it within a day or two. Dealer kicked in an extra year to make it three when we were buying the car. I'll take that over a coffee mug!
My Salesman came through!!! It is totally resolved. Getting aero kit, the 19" rims and tires, and a great price on winter tires. .
Can hardly wait to take delivery of the TLX SH-AWD Elite.

That is great news! Congratulations.

I nearly had the same issue. I got to the showroom frustrated and upset but by the end of the day the salesman worked some magic and I became extremely happy. What a roller coaster day for my emotions.:)

I apologize for taking so long to respond. The tires are Bridgestone Blizzaks. $800.00 installed plus taxes. Seems like a good deal to me.
I live in Saskatchewan. There is a dealer in Saskatoon, one in Regina and I think there are 2 in Edmonton.
Dealer phoned today. Advised my TLX SH-AWD elite arrived yesterday. Will be ready for pickup by Wednesday. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get it until Friday. This car is really testing my patience - ordered on August 30th. I can hardly wait. Bought my current car 2002, TL type S new in 2002. Have been extremely happy with it. Obviously, I keep my cars for an extended period of time. So a new car is huge!!!

The anticipation is tough, but wait is almost over. Most of us have been there. It sure is nice the day you can finally pick it up and drive it home. Good luck.
