I need to put some new tires on the TLX. I thought about upgrading to 19's, but decided to stick with the stock Advance 18" wheels.
I think I've settled on Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 plus. It's a performance all season. I live in the northwest where significant rain occurs 9 months out of the year. I also take a 20 mile back rural road to and from work that has some nice twists that I usually try to enjoy if I'm not behind someone. I currently have Eagle LS and the tread, especially shoulders, is starting to wear down and it's not hard for me to break grip around corners.
I've looked at the Michelin All-season Pilot Sports as well. I don't know if I'd be able to really experience the slight performance improvement over the Continentals for the additional cost.
I considered putting 235/45s on the 18x7.5 inch rims, but I think I'll stick with the 225/50s, even though the dealer said a 235 would fit. It's less than 1/2 inch increase in tire width, but I don't want the tires sticking out too far on the side profile from the wheel.
Any thoughts?
