When pulling into my garage I would like to see if I have cleared the threshold before I park my TLX. Wifes BMW shows the rear camera and was wondering if there was a way to enable this as well on the TLX?

You can always stop and put it in reverse to check.

By design, I don't believe this can be done; however, I accidentally discovered that grounding (or partially grounding) the wire at the mirror which tells it to cease the auto-dim feature in reverse will turn the camera on. I connected the +12V lead of my radar detector power wire there instead of to the +12V source, and the screen switched to the rear view camera.

One could install a switch that could turn on the camera any time. I don't know if this is a hard ground, though on other cars it is. If I wanted to do this in the TLX, I'd start with high-value resistors, and work my way down to find the highest value that reliably triggered the camera.

EDIT: I was in Park with the ignition on when I discovered this. I assume the results would be the same in Drive.
