I've always been a big fan of the j series engine and the potential they have. Decided to build a tlx and see how far I can push it . I went with the fwd model due lack of aftermarket support on the awd model . I've seen people push up to 330whp which is my goal

Day 1
Wheel Vehicle Tire Car Automotive tire

Had the k tuner ready before the purchase of the car

Sleeve Font Gadget Electronic device Logo

Takeda wrinkle black intake with throttle body spacer

Hood Automotive fuel system Motor vehicle Vehicle Personal luxury car

Unorthodox racing crank pulley
Yellow Recipe Cuisine Rim Circle

Rv6 jpipe
Drinkware Drink Font Gas Cylinder

Decided to do the pedal commander vs the sprint booster

Telephony Automotive lighting Communication Device Telephone Portable communications device

Very light cosmetic
Window Visors
Red out tail lights
And gloss wrap grill

View attachment 27924
also stepped up the tires to firestone indy500 2355518

Any suggestions besides rv6 pcd or p2r intake runners

Current set up for 2018 FWD
oiled takeda SRI
takeda spacer
2x p2r TB thermal gaskets
UR lightweight pulley in underdrive
rv6 J pipe
2x at2540i mufflers
tr225 resonator
ktuner v2 (no dyno tune yet)
DIY intake resonator delete (I think it does nothing lol)
P2R EGR delete
TB coolant bypass (again, probably does nothing)

hp/tq? idk.

suggestion
RV6 PCD (Good luck finding these. Rv6 no longer makes them and only 2 vendors sell them. Jotech performance and Jspec performance. with Jotech, I've had a REALLY bad experience with them so good luck. As for Jspec, they cannot ship to the U.S.)

RV6 HFPC (These are on the way as we speak. Cannot wait to install them).

PnP work done by HalferLand Performance (I've been watching these guys for awhile and I can say their work is outstanding).

Head work done by P2R.

Thermal gaskets lol

There is a guy on acurazine with a similar set up and he pushed 293whp and 308whp
here

Imo, you need DEEP pockets to make the TLX push 330hp. I love my car as much as you do, but the extra PnP work is insane. If the TLX could speak, it would say "310 whp. Take it or Leave it".

Anyways, good luck. You can find me here.

I appreciate the suggestion. Yeah I've probably seen your YouTube videos 100 times lol. That exhaust set up is aggressive. Yeah sadly no one makes pcd anymore and only high flows are available. And yeah mostly likely all the cnc/pnp work will be done with p2r. Next mod will be the high flow cats forsure. And please update when u get yours . I've heard u can run the stage 2 map from ktuner even tho they aren't pcd

Yes I will let you know when the HFPC are here and installed. I run stage 2 map regardless and although it makes me slightly rich, you can always tune the MAF scaling so your idle and cruise is STFT1 is 0. Other than that, 330 NA is so close, but so far. I’m trying to push at least 310 whp, then i’ll be happy.

Mine definitely doesn't sound as good as urs
Im currently running stock piping resonator delete, both mufflers deleted and mid muffler. With just a magnaflow muffler. I need to step up my exhaust game . Mine has way more rasp than yours . going to do full custom 2.50 with 2 vibrant performance mufflers and vibrant performance ultra quite resonator and tips .

You should do the the ultra quite resonator for the rasp

The 1st resonator conceals so much sound and clarity, i’d suggest replacing that with a straight through resonator. I think resonated tips would also help on drone.

As for my set up, it drones, but it’s not ear shattering. I personally like the rasp, and it only gets raspy above 3k rpm. This is my daily driver so i’m always driving under 3k lol.

That being said, I think the most fun someone can have is a straight pipe TLX with clamp on resonators. You can be either a loud mean machine, or a moderately loud TLX cruising. I wish I had gone this set up but ya know. It is what it is.

Recently installed the lower and upper thermal gaskets by p2r. They help A LOT with heat soak. My IAT are always outside temps + 3-7 degrees. In addition, you may or may not see your knock cont. go down since the engine isn't suffocated by its own heat.

probably the best thing I've bought for my car.

Nice yeah I've seen them on the p2r website. Yeah these engines tend to run hot and these will definitely help with the heat soak. I'd like tho do these thermal gaskets when I get my hands on t he p2r ported runners

I want to redo my exhaust I didn't like how it came out on the sound and performance. Considering either doing a single custom exhaust or just buying the circuit werks exhaust and adding tips to it.

Oh yeah. Definitely get the ported runners + thermal gasket combo. Really good gains will be made.

As for your exhaust, do you have a clip? I think going with circuit werks exhaust is a safe route. Do I personally think it sounds good? No, but it's all subjective. Also, I think maximum exhaust flow would be a custom X pipe with your current RV6 J pipe. I love single exit exhaust, but since you're doing an all motor build, it would only make sense to go custom X pipe route.

Here's a sound clip

Yeah I've seen the xpipe set ups were they cut off the jpipe merge collector and make it a dual from. But honestly since the j series isn't a true inline 6 I don't think it's effective. Haven't seen dyno numbers either with that o any j series .

Most likely going with circuit Werks and adding tips

Imo, the magna flow makes it sound "airy". Other than that, circuit werks is not bad. Just watched some videos with HFPC and CW exhaust, it sounds good and probably doesn't drone. Good luck!
