Haven't heard of the exact complaint yet. I think what is more frustrating about the problem is the lack of help to fix it. Sorry for your luck.

I contacted our Attorney General asking for direction. Thing is, I had an investigator ride with me, car didn't act up, and he said, "he would be lying if he said he hasn't heard or seen this happen before". In fact, he just drove another car before mine at the dealers and it was doing it to him. He asked me if I wanted to drive it to see. I said, "why would I want to do that since mine does it". He said Acura thinks it is a software issue but they are hesitant to install since it might create other problems. He said, "it will probably take a catastrophic failure before they do anything". What a joke! I am getting this problem to as many sites as I can and writing agency's to let them know. Hinshaws Acura in Fife always act like there is nothing wrong. They "say" they can't find the problem. I'm sure it is because they can't fix it and after 3 times it would be a lemon. Even the manager wouldn't return my phone call when I told him, about two weeks later, that I wanted to return the vehicle. It drives beautiul once it gets going. It has happend now 3 times in two days. Now my wife says when the transmission makes that loud sound, the engine revs up. I should have never got rid of my 1996 Infinity.Haven't heard of the exact complaint yet. I think what is more frustrating about the problem is the lack of help to fix it. Sorry for your luck.

The video won't do any good because I would have to video tape the foot pressing the gas pedal and at the same time showing that the car isn't moving. I need to have something that can record a Sequence of Events for proof. Plus my wife drives the car to work and can't video tape. Acura is aware of the problem and Hinshaws Acura of Fife is also aware. They would not believe any video I have taken. Progressive Insurance uses something that records your driving so you would think Acura, a "LUXURY" car maker could do the same. I will wait for a response from our Attorney General. I did post the complaint on the NHTBA site as a hazard given that I have almost got hit from behind twice.i would video my driving for a while so that the dealer can see what you are talking about. It may not occur overtime, but you will catch it some time sooner or later....or it will not be a problem.
I have seen others create videos of problems and it certainly help with Acura.
It drives really good once it goes. We do like the car and all the bells and whistles. However, it is difficult to "sugar-coat" a problem like this. I bought this car for my wife for Christmas. This problem, however, needs to be said. ALL the things I said are factual. The dealer or Acura may disagree with that statement but they are true. The only thing Acura did was send an investigator. They might call once in awhile to ask how it's going but no hint of resolution. I have no problem with you sending this to a complaint section because that is what it is. The funny thing is, the dealer keeps asking me if it was cold when it happened. I live in the Puget Sound where we are having the warmest winter in history. Today it is in the 50's!Dear @LeroyTheLips,
Sorry to bounce your thread to different sections today. First I thought your post was a complaint but I see this is an active issue. Since this is an active issue that you are working with Acura and your state, I moved this thread here. Once the issue has been resolved, please let me know so I can close this thread.
Since the case is active and everyone can learn through your misfortune and hopefully your eventual successful conclusion; your thread will have more visibility here.
I understand you are upset, but please just post factual information here only. If you need to rant, please feel free to rant in the Complaints section. By rant, I don't mean any ill will, it's just nice to keep emotions out of it for the main record.
As Moderator, I see all of your posts are negative.Anything good to say about your TLX? Maybe post something in the Owner check-in section about yourself. Maybe tell us where you're from and something nice about your new TLX.
Thanks,
Summest

I think that if your dealer won't believe a video it IS time to get a new car and a new dealer. Good luck. I am waiting for Acura to fix these transmission issues before I even consider a TLX....my 99 TL had two replacement transmissions from that cluster.....The video won't do any good because I would have to video tape the foot pressing the gas pedal and at the same time showing that the car isn't moving. Just bought it with a cashier's check the day before Thanksgiving. I'm stuck with it. I will see what my state's Attorney General says. I sent him a long explanation and one to the NHTSB. I would NOT recommend buying one of these. Drives great on the open road, though. Any updates? Curious to learn what you found out.Just bought it with a cashier's check the day before Thanksgiving. I'm stuck with it. I will see what my state's Attorney General says. Yes. Just got called today from Acura. I am going to another dealer in Seattle and they will have yet another investigator drive along with me hoping to see the problem and record it with a device. I wanted Acura to put a device on the car, like Progressive Insurance does, to record the driving for awhile but they said they couldn't do that so I have to hope it will do it with the investigator. The car does not have the problems all the time so I don't have much faith in their finding the problem. It did it today and the other day my wife said when she pressed on the gas, not only was there a hesitation but the engine revved and the car didn't move. I love the car. The way it looks and the way it drives, but this is ridiculous. The State Attorney General contacted me to get my permission to send my complaint to the dealer and other organizations, which I gave. I haven't heard back from the National Highway Traffic Safety yet. We are not young or rich. This was a gift for my wife's 62 birthday and Christmas. I feel like I am a little fish drowning in a very big ocean.Any updates? Curious to learn what you found out.![]()
Welcome to the Forum! Sorry to hear your first post is an issue.I am experiencing the same issue with the 2015 TLX I4:
- It has slipped into what seems to be neutral when accelerating from a rolling stop 3 times. I have told the dealer that if I were turning out into an intersection when this happens I could be T-Boned and this is a danger to my safety. They agreed.
- Initial shifting from Reverse to drive takes 2-3 seconds
- Sloppy shifting from 1st to second and 2nd to 3rd
- Issue dissipates after a few miles of driving once the car is warmed up.
I have had the car in service twice in the last two months. First time they updated the firmware or something. Nothing changed.
Most recently I took it in on Jan.12. I got a call from the service manager on Jan.14 saying that they confirmed the shifting issue and they were looking at replacing the transmission. I have heard nothing since and it's now Jan.27th.
The car is in Service at Hendrick Acura in Charlotte.
I'm not sure if you got my reply so I am typing another one. I would recommend putting your complaint on carcomplaints.com. They keep track of all problems of cars and each time you get an incident you record it there. I have also sent my complaint to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration so I recommend you doing that even if Acura fixes your vehicle. I also took the step of contacting my State Attorney General to set up a formal complaint to the dealer and other agencies. It is a painless procedure that you can do via email. If we don't complain and get it recorded nothing will ever get done. Your incident seems more dangerous than mine. I hope you don't get in an accident. I am taking my vehicle to another dealer to look at it but unless it happens when they are in the vehicle I'm not sure anything will happen. I tried returning my vehicle within a month after I bought it but never got a call-back from the dealer. I am really hoping Acura will take care of this problem and admit that there is a problem. OK - after 3000km i have noticed the 2nd to 3rd bump, the acceleration fighting the brake, engine revving and not moving and finally, when i stood beside my car today I remote started it and the engine revved up and down from 1000 to 3000 rpm for about 1 minute - all strange.Any updates? I was told by the Acura Investigator that they have a beta version of the software but are hesitant to issue it because it may cause problems other than what they are trying to fix. You are lucky that your dealer acknowledges the problem. Mine just tells me the car is cold. I hope they are working at getting your problem fixed and not just "blowing smoke". I would appreciate any updates you have on this as it would probably help me with my problem. I see the investigator next Tuesday (Feb. 3) so I will post any updates that I have.OK - after 3000km i have noticed the 2nd to 3rd bump, the acceleration fighting the brake, engine revving and not moving and finally, when i stood beside my car today I remote started it and the engine revved up and down from 1000 to 3000 rpm for about 1 minute - all strange.
Contacted dealer, they said they have heard of all this and are waiting for a software update, hopefully by end of week. Will keep you posted...

In my case, I'm not sure he would want to risk his job to say it happens to other vehicles. I just got a phone call from our Attorney General's office and they said I qualify for a Lemon Law so they will forward paperwork for that. It will involve litigation but I am confident I have a case. This is the most expensive car I've owned (besides my 3/4 ton diesel truck) and it has given me the most problems and yet it is supposed to be a luxury vehicle. I strongly urge you to submit your complaint to the National Highway Traffice Safety Commission and your State Attorney General. Even if they fix it there will be a record.Definitely - this community is all we got! ;-)
Seriously though, as soon as I hear anything, I will post an update. Hoping it is resolved soon. He was honest in saying there were multiple complaints with the exact scenario. I've also been dealing with the same technician for 5 years, so that may help with the honesty factor.
