12 volt availability at the front camera

Does anyone have any experience with finding a consistent 12 volt source that would be located at the front facing camera area? I'm looking for a source that can provide about 500-600 MA. It does not need to be available when the car is off, but should be when the car is running. I disassembled the covers and I see a large two prong connector that at first glance, looks to be the main power feed to the electronics powering the camera, and perhaps other elements like the interior lamps etc. I'm not afraid to poke around with a multi-meter, and if that connector can be employed to provide the voltage, great. I can easily tap into that circuit.

The point of all of this is to provide an easy and cosmetically clean 12 volts at around 500-600 MA to my dash cam. Right now, I have the cabling routed all the way from the top of the interior roof panel, down the passenger pillar, into the glovebox area and then under the vent bezels to the 12 volt accessory (cigarette) lighter in the same area as the USB connector. Kind of clean, but not at all what I want.
The better solution is to simply tap off of the12 volts at the camera electronics and trim and route the line over to the dash cam. A run of about 4-6 inches instead of 4-5 feet. I an certain that the current draw won’t be a problem.

If anyone can provide guidance, I would certainly appreciate it.

If you could do a write-up with pictures I'm sure everyone here on this board would be appreciative.
I thought about getting power from the mirror harness but the space in that area is tight for my hardwire kit so I went down the driver side and into the fuse box.

That is a great alternative and that's how I think l will proceed. It's clean, and has the advantage of connection space at the driver side fuse box and an easy 12 volt selection point. That also allows me to add a separate fuse so that I'm not risking any type of possible overload. Not likely, but why chance it? Thanks for your thoughtful suggestion. For others who may be interested, I will document and post this installation.
