As I am sure everyone on this forum has witnessed, my review can change with the day of the week. I have the V6, and it has been a roller-coaster. The transmission can feel different from day to day. It is very interesting. It has (very accurately) been described as Sybil.
I have been in and out of my dealership, and they have done the best they can to make the transmission shift more smoothly. This last update that I had installed on my car this week did cause a perceived improvement, however some shifts from 2-3 are still noticeable. If you concentrate on how hard you accelerate, and lighten up on the gas slightly just before you think the car will shift into 3rd, you can really improve the "bump". This, however, should not be the driver's responsibility.
I hope that Acura will continue to work on this. Actually, I know they are, per a response I received back from a ZF representative. The good news there is ZF is actively working with Acura to come up with a solution. Many other brands are left coming up with a fix on their own.
This week, I have been happier with the performance. I have had two very noticeable jerks between 2 and 3. I am trying very hard to ignore them, but I think I have been wired now to subconsciously pay attention to them. I did notice that I actually look at my tachometer every single time my car shifts in lower gears. This realization came as a shock, as my car has caused my behavior to change. That is a powerful thing.
The rest of the car is absolutely amazing. So well built. I hope one day that the transmission is smooth as butter. I came from driving a 2014 Mazda 6 GT, and that transmission was award winning, in my mind. Smooth, responsive, the whole 9 yards.
I think it also depends on customer preference. Some may notice it more, and some may not mind. To me, I would prefer a transmission I could not feel. Others may like the feel of the car changing gears.
I have had my car since New Year's Eve. I bought the Aero Kit as an after purchase install. I have installed the Acura LED door projectors. I have "TLX" for my license plate. I really do love the car. I just hope that Acura fixes the transmission for those of us that prefer a smoother ride.
