2018 Acura TLX Review

Quote:
What else is there to say about the Acura TLX, a premium sedan thatís been significantly reworked for 2018? Itís a respectable all-arounder thatís free of any deal-breaking flaws, even if it fails to truly thrill.

Like an automotive Goldilocks, this important four-door is nestled between the compact ILX and full-size RLX, competing with industry heavyweights like the Lexus IS, BMW 3 Series and Audi A4, to name a trio of adversaries.

Sharing foundational underpinnings with the capable Honda Accord, this front-drive-based sedan has been improved significantly for the new model year, with fresh exterior styling being the TLXís most obvious change. Their divisive 'shield grille' has, at last, been jettisoned in favor of a new motif, which debuted on the Precision Concept a year or so ago.

In addition to its handsome new 'diamond pentagon' grille, this carís fenders, fascias, fog lights and filigree have been spruced up for 2018. The overall look is fetching, if not quite lust worthy.

Are the fenders really "spruced up"... I can't see any change with them. I bet the spoiler would fit previous models.

I can't see much of a difference from the pictures. Maybe when the two are side by side.

Prod slight differcnes due to the ned hood, lights, and bumper. My dealer has 6 coming in. I might just be swayed back. Reviews have all been positive so far.

^^ Mostly. The best reviewer out there is Redline Reviews. He only drove the car in Sport + and didn't get up to freeway speeds. He confirmed the steering & handling qualities are improved, that the tranny works amazingly in Sport + but there's a lot left unsaid.

The review while good was odd... "lets evaluate the SHD...." From a stop he makes a left turn and commends the system...... really?

No review is ever perfect and most are subjective too. Me, I could care less about the navi graphics, but he did say the seats were really comfortable. Acura seems to have addressed most of my complaints anyway, with the better shifting tranny and A-Spec suspension/wheel/tire upgrades. I really cant see them upgrading the suspension and not addressing the highway vibrations.

Ive been looking at the V6 Accords and while I do enjoy the V6/6AT combo, the look of the car, its just missing a few things my TLX had.

This new'ish TLX hits all the right notes with me so far...

I'll take a San Marino Red A-Spec with the Alcantara interior please.

The autoguide review did pan the delay in downshifting @ 45mph, so all is still not well in the ZF.
