Redesigned 2018 Acura TLX Spied Fully Exposed

Quote:
Spy photographers have managed to catch the redesigned 2018 Acura TLX without any camouflage.

The sedan was spied in Long Beach, California, while the Japanese automaker was doing official photo and video shoots, likely for promotional materials. As the next model in line to receive Acura’s new design language that first debuted on the 2017 MDX, you can see the 2018 Acura TLX will have slimmer jeweled headlights and the diamond pentagon grille, while the rear gets exhaust cutouts just like the MDX. More interestingly, one of the TLXes being shot on camera has a more aggressive front end, prominent round exhaust tips, and a subtle lip spoiler, suggesting that a performance-oriented model will join the lineup.

Another model being rumored to join the lineup is a TLX Hybrid, likely sporting a hybrid powertrain borrowed from the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid.

Look for more information on the 2018 Acura TLX before it goes on sale this fall. Given the timing of the photoshoot, there’s a good chance that the 2018 Acura TLX will debut at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show next month. If it doesn’t, look for it at the 2017 New York Auto Show.

It's so ugly. The rear bumper looks like they took it off a 5 series BMW and the front looks like some teenage kid modded it like a rice rocket. I hope they fix the look because as it stands it's just ugly. My biggest problem was the lack of rear exhaust tips the silver trim in the front looks so nice and distinctive and they went and got rid of it for a more rice rocket look. So glad I bought a 2015 TLX it just looks nicer.

I would bet that the final model will vary slightly from these pictures.

My guess:

Grill - same
Daytime running lights - possibly move out of the jewel lights and add an LED strip as they have done on the RDX
Fog lights - squares (as on the MDX)
Rear - Exhaust piper visible but with different shape tips - not round (is picture showing round or ...?)

Anyone wanna place some bets?

At any rate you know the quality will be nothing but top notch for Acura!

It looks thick from the rear door back. Not an attractive-looking car at this stage.

This is completely a guess obviously, but I'm thinking the final product will be pretty well the same as what the pictures show. My reasoning is that it appeared to be some sort of promo shoot. I would think having 3 cars done up completely the same for that type of shoot would mean it's for an upcoming unveil. I'm likely completely wrong, but that's what I'm thinking at this point. There are some weird angles in those pictures so I'm hoping it looks better in person. They kept the current style lights on the refreshed MDX so I'm thinking they do the same on the TLX.

With the present love of SUV's, the sedan is taking a back seat to those "trucks."
The minor changes and and offering additional colors may be all we get in 2018.
The 2018 FMC Accord is consuming much of the "sedan" brain power at Honda!!
